Iceland Activities
Mánamörk 3-5, 810 Hveragerði“Written by Úlfar, son of the family”
When it comes down to choose a travel operator/company or just how to spend your day in Iceland, then there are endless possibilities, allot of good companies and allot of not so good companies that are just in it for the money! So why chose Iceland Activities?
Our company ”Iceland Activities” is my family (my parents, my sister, grandma, girlfriend, brother in law and our closest friends and family). We did not create this company to become rich! We truly love what we do, we created this company to be able to do what we love every day and even on our days off, we are doing the same tours on our own.
We base all of our tours on our family experience, traveling together as a family since 1983 has built up a crazy amount of experience and knowledge of secret locations all over the South part of Iceland, some locations that only my family knows about still today. Creating tours that are well suitable to all level of fitness from families with young children to super adventures families or individuals.
On our journey from 1983 we have earned a well-spoken reputation as an outdoor family and known for seeking out the sports that were not as common, my father was one of the first ones to modify his jeeps and we are proud to be one of the first mountain bikers of Iceland and the only local MTB guides on the Hengill volcanic area, guides who grew up mountain biking and exploring the area on tracks made by the Icelandic sheep.
Today we offer a good selection of tours, ranging from two hours up to multi-day trips, and overnight camping tours focusing mostly on the off the beaten path experience. We can tailor made everything about the tour and set up the tour as you like, we could keep it more raw or have it quite luxurious and high class but still remote. We could keep the days more active or more easy going. It really depends on your choose, our aim is to enjoy the day with you.
Some of the things we offer:
Super jeep tours ● Mountain bike tours ● Hike tours ● Lava caving ● Surfing ● Team building ● food tasting ● Snowshoeing ● Sightseeing ● food tasting and culture tours ● zip line ● Skiing ● rock climbing ● camping ● Ice hockey ● Curling
Staff and guides: family members and close friends and we are all Icelandic :)
Locations: Iceland Activities family headquarters are located in Hveragerði, the Icelandic capital of hot springs. Hveragerði is 45 km east of the capital Reykjavík (30 minutes drive on highway 1).
Contact us and we will customize a tour for you, your friends or family. We specialize in having small groups and we never mix into big groups, so your experience will be better. When bigger groups book with us 6 persons or more then the tours are automatically private.

Arctic Heli Skiing specializes in custom made exploratory Helicopter skiing adventures in the Troll Peninsula in Iceland and Greenland where we invite you to join us for a grand adventure of first descents, Northern Lights and skiing all the way down to the ocean, basking in the rays of the midnight sun. As Iceland’s premier heli ski operation we guarantee you that your safety and pleasure is our highest priority.
The potential for world class downhill skiing here is mind blowing, with vertical descents of up to 1500m or almost 5000ft. Our vast terrain covers more than 4000 square kilometers, or 1500 square miles of breathtaking Arctic mountains with terrain that suits every skiers ability be it extreme couloirs or wide-open glaciers. Our position just below the Arctic Circle with the mountains rising straight out of the sea allows for a skiing experience of a lifetime, skiing from summit to sea shore.
Check out our web page for great photos, videos and articles on skiing in Iceland. Our season starts at the end of February when we typically experience powder conditions and continues until the end of June with generally excellent corn skiing. The fact that the Troll Peninsula is surrounded by the Arctic Ocean makes for incredible opportunities for skiing right down to the ocean on stable coastal snowpack but also adds the excitement of Arctic weather and conditions. Throw in a mix of Northern lights, midnight sun, volcanic activity, hot springs, lava fields and a unique Viking culture and you will find that Iceland is a true adventure skiing destination.
We look forward to seeing you in the mountains.

Pink Iceland is the recipient of the 2012 Innovation Award of the Icelandic Travel Industry Association, is a proud member of IGLTA and has received over 115 five star reviews on TripAdvisor.
Pink Iceland's honesty policy:
Pink Iceland is a privately owned company and as such it needs to make a profit. This profit pays the salaries of its staff, the rent, the wonderful and informative Pink Iceland website not to mention copious amounts of coffee for the owners. Most of Pink Iceland's money is made through commissions. This is how it works: If our guests lets us book their tours, activities, and accommodation we collect a small (usually 10-15%) commission of the price. This basically means that you pay the same price, regardless of whether you book directly - or through us. You may think this might cause us to recommend really expensive accommodation and tours. Not so. We promise to do our utmost to come up with a plan that suits you, and your budget. We would never recommend anything without full confidence and/or personal experience of what's on offer. Our primary goal is working with and for the LGBTQI community and without the community's support or goodwill we wouldn't have lasted six months in the business. It is not least through word of mouth that we grow stronger every day. Our hope is that after reading this you too will ask for our recommendations and advice and/or book your holiday through us.

Icelandic Youth Hostel Association
Borgartún 6, 105 ReykjavíkFarfuglar ses - Hostelling International (HI) Iceland is a non-governmental and non-profit membership organization established in 1939. The organisation is a member of Hostelling International (HI), a global network of Youth Hostel Associations, of over 4000 hostels with members in more than 80 countries. Membership means that the Icelandic hostels fulfill the international standards for HI Hostels. Its mission as stated in its constitution:
Opening the World to Youth: “To promote the education of all young people of all nations, but specially young people of limited means, by encouraging in them a greater knowledge, love and care of the countryside and an appreciation of the cultural values of towns and cities in all parts of the world, and as an ancillary thereto, to provide hostels or other accommodation in which there shall be no distinction of race, nationality, colour, religion, sex, class or political opinions and thereby to develop a better understanding of their fellow men, both at home and abroad.”
Since its inception the organisation's main goal has been to promote and encourage people of all ages to travel and to increase their knowledge and appreciation of nature and culture.
The Hostel network enables young people of different nationalities, cultures and social background to meet informally, share experiences; learn about themselves, each other and their surroundings. Hostels foster a remarkable international awareness about current issues such as environmental issues, sustainable tourism and sustainable development as a whole.
Hostelling also has a fundamental, but unofficial, role in the development of young people as future employees in a global market. The hostel environment encourages social awareness and the importance of living in a community, plus it develops the kind of self-discipline skills that result from experiencing different situations, having to make individual decisions and learning from them.

Dohop
Nóatún 17, 105 ReykjavíkHi, we are Dohop!
Are you looking for a reliable way to find the cheapest flights available? So was our founder, Frosti Sigurjonsson, in 2004. He was working in France and struggled finding the right connection flights to minimize the cost of travel to his home in Iceland. Dohop was founded to solve this problem and the first version of our flight search engine was released in 2005. Today Dohop has been chosen the World's Leading Flight Comparison Website a number of times.
Since then, we’ve been working hard to solve Frosti’s problem (and yours) with the goal of creating the most powerful flight search engine in the world. A lofty goal? Sure. But that’s why we were so happy to win "The World's Leading Flight Comparison Website" at the World Travel Awards in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
At heart, Dohop is simply an easy-to-use flight search engine. We search and match routes to find the best way to fly between two places and then we try to search for the best prices for those routes. We also find rental cars and hotel rooms. All our results of course take the price into account and we always display the cheapest results we find.
We're not a big company but we are growing and we have a terrific team. When we’re not at our desks we play the occasional game of foosball, and on Fridays we try to squeeze in a beer or two after work.

North Sailing Whale Watching
Gamli Baukur, Hafnarstétt 9, 640 HúsavíkThe eco-friendly whale watching company
Enjoy the great variety of marine life in the unique environment of Skjálfandaflói bay aboard North Sailing’s meticulously renovated oak boats. Since its founding in 1995, North Sailing has been a pioneer of sustainable tourism, as well as being the first company in Iceland to offer regular whale watching tours. Whale watching is a popular activity for visitors to Iceland, and the company’s operations have grown fast.
The fishing village of Húsavík is now renowned for its spectacular whale watching opportunities, and Skjálfandaflói bay is one of only a handful of places in the world where the blue whale, the largest mammal on earth, is known to visit regularly.
North Sailing’s whale watching tours have given Húsavík the reputation of being Europe’s whale watching capital. One of North Sailing’s most ambitious goals is to empower sustainable tourism, and the company has put a lot of care and skill into renovating and maintaining its fleet of old oak fishing-ships.
First company in the world to offer carbon-free whale watching
On July 12th, 2015, the renovated schooner Opal, with its uniquely designed electrical system, was launched. The launching marked a world-wide first: Offering carbon-free whale watching tours by using only wind and electricity for propulsion.
In 2016, North Sailing will offer two kinds of carbon-free whale watching tours, with up to 5 tours scheduled per day. The company’s policy is clear, and in a few year’s time its whole fleet will be entirely carbon-free and driven by electricity.
North Sailing has received a number of awards and acknowledgements for its eco-friendly operations and innovative new designs, for example it received the Environmental Recognition of the Icelandic Tourist Board for the second time in 2015, as well as being awarded the silver prize at the coveted World Responsible Tourism Awards for “Best Innovation for Carbon Reduction”.
North Sailing offers a variety of exciting tours, such as whale watching tours in Hjalteyri (approx. 15-minute drive from Akureyri), whale watching in Tromsø, Norway, skiing in the Lyngen Alps, Norway, and week-long expeditions in Scoresby Sund on the east coast of Greenland.

Before traveling to Iceland, it is necessary to plan the days you will spend. We think the best way to discover Iceland is in a private jeep tour. When you hear people talking about a „ Private jeep tour in Iceland “ it sounds like something very expensive and fancy. The truth is that if you are in a group of 4-6 people, a private jeep tour in Iceland is kind of a „budget jeep tour“ and saves you money. Not to mention that on a private tour everything is more flexible and the trip is tailored after your needs.
All our day tours can be done as private tours. We can also offer private airport pickup to and from your hotel. If you have special request about a tour in Iceland please send us a line and we will do what we can make it happen.

The Blue Lagoon
Svartsengi, 240 GrindavíkThe Blue Lagoon is a health and geothermal spa on the Reykjanes Peninsula.
A visit to the Blue Lagoon Iceland geothermal spa is an important part of your stay in Iceland.
Guests renew their relationship with nature, soak up the scenic beauty and enjoy breathing the clean, fresh air while relaxing in the warm geothermal seawater. It is no surprise that the readers of “Conde Nast Traveller” voted Blue Lagoon as the best spa worldwide and voted one of 25 wonders of the world by National Geographic. For ten consecutive years Blue Lagoon has been awarded the Blue Flag environmental recognition granted to natural beaches and marinas. The water’s temperature is 37-39°C / 98-102°F. The lagoon holds nine million liters of geothermal seawater. Regular sampling shows that “common” bacteria do not thrive in this ecosystem, thus additional cleansers such as chlorine are not needed.

LAVA Restaurant at Blue Lagoon offers a unique dining experience. It is built into the cliff so it features a natural lava wall and the view overlooks the lagoon, adding to its uniqueness.
The chefs take pride in using fresh Icelandic ingredients and the lunch and evening menus range from light dishes to gourmet meals. Try the catch of the day, which is the freshest fish available from the near fishing village Grindavík.
Seated at a table in Moss Restaurant, you can travel the island by way of the gourmet creations that emerge from the kitchen. With menus that move effortlessly from the mountains, to the farmlands, to the oceans, each dish opens the door to the living heritage and diverse delights of Icelandic cuisine. Hekluhestar Riding Tours
Austvaðsholt, Holta- og Landssveit, 851 HellaHekluhestar - Riding tours since 1981
Austvaðsholtfarm, the heart of Hekluhestar, is located 12 km from Hella, in a vast open area 100 km. east of Reykjavik in the vicinity of the volcano Mt. Hekla, bordered by the river Rangá and has the character of a family farm.
Horses are the focal point of activity at Hekluhestar, brought up and trained with the requirements of our guests in mind. Perfectly adapted to their ground, from the grassy meadows and river randges to the rugged desertic highlands and volcanic fields. The Icelandic horse has a fourth and fifth gait, tölt and pace, which enable one to cover long distances comfortably and swiftly.
For over thirty years the Hekluhestar family has guided many groups of people coming from all over the world through the rugged area of Hekla. Anita is continuing the family tradition that her parents, Jón and Nicole started, and is leading the riding tours, which she has been involved every year since she was a little child.
The Highland tours – 6 and 8 day rides
In July and August we offer riding tours through lavafields and volcanic ash desert and other impressive scenery close to the famous volcano Hekla. The tours continues to Landmannalaugar a geothermal area with a colourful and breathtaking landscape of mountains, hot springs and lavafields. Daily treks of 4-7 hours. Accomodation is provided at the farm and in well kept mountain huts.
Summer night ride – Ride into the bright Icelandic summer night in June.
Experience a unique admosphere and the energy of the nature by riding into the bright night on an Icelandic horse. Ride in the meadows where the birds with their chicks are running around and the dew decorates the vegetation. Going along
the beautiful and quiet river Ranga with a great view of the volcano Hekla, glaciers and mountains. We start the ride around 23 o‘clock and ride for about three to four hours. When we arrive back to the farm, hot chocolate and traditional „bakkelsi“ will be served.
Day tours
Come and visit our farm and go for a one hour ride up to a day tour along the river Rangá. Beautiful view of the mountains.

We offer three kinds of cottages of different sizes. Each cottage is homey and includes equipped kitchens, living area, and bathroom facilities. TV, bed linen, towels, and free Wifi is available in the cottages. The biggest cottages are 39m2 and can accommodate 4-6 persons and the smaller, 24m2 and 29m2, can accommodate 2-4 persons.

We put our efforts into creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. From the guesthouse, there is an excellent view of the fjord and the town of Eskifjordur. Southcoast Adventure
Ormsvöllur 23, 860 HvolsvöllurSpecializes in tailor-made private & luxury tours and all kinds of day trips around Iceland. Open schedule tours or private.
Southcoast Adventure was established in 2009 by Þorgerður Guðmundsdóttir and Ársæll Hauksson. To begin with, there was just ONE jeep that was used to offer trips to tourists and mostly Icelanders who wanted to see more of their beautiful country. 2 years later, their first member of staff was hired. The company today has 28 vehicles of all shapes and sizes, including snowmobiles and 4×4 buggies.
Initially, daily trips were offered to Eyjafjallajökul, Þórsmörk, and Fimmvörðuháls. Today the company has grown considerably and daily trips are offered in many vehicles to many destinations; snowmobile and buggy trips; twice, daily departures to the ice cave; trips transporting luggage for those clients who are doing hikes to the various glaciers, mountains, and the interior; glacier ice-hikes as well as those up mountains and further inland.
All of this as well as custom-made trips/adventures for those who have a thirst for something off the beaten track. Many of the staff are also active members of the local Search and Rescue and this obviously is an added bonus when dealing with Icelandic nature and the sometimes rugged environment. Thankfully their special skills have not often been called upon but it is a reassuring skill to have.
No two days are the same and there is always a feeling of excitement for the next day at work and what adventures it may bring. The company prides itself on building incredible trips and memories for all of our clients, both locals and foreigners. Staff/guides are always encouraged to extend their knowledge as much as possible so that all clients are satisfied and the company aims to always improve their service. As mentioned, most of the staff/guides are from the surrounding areas – this is a huge advantage as it means that when needs arise, the local knowledge makes for a more comfortable working environment.

Icebike Adventures is a family-owned & operated company passionate about mountain biking and the outdoors. Our guides are local expert riders, passionate about Iceland and biking.
We will bring you to our favorite areas, often unmarked and unmapped trails. We keep our group sizes small to ensure that we can provide outstanding service for every guest.
We donate our time trail building in various areas of the island and maintain the trails we ride.
Exclusive personal service and knowledge of the sport is our advantage. Our trips are unparalleled, melding the very best Icelandic single tracks and backroads with true Icelandic cultural and backcountry experiences.
Iceland's biking scene is young, and legislation on biking is still forming. The highlands are vast areas of unique untouched nature. As the summer is short, the vegetation only has 6-8 weeks to grow and recover each year. We tailor our trips to make no harm to nature, and we promote practices that will keep our wilderness intact for future generations. Please help us keep trails open to riders by riding respectfully.
Our riding roots run deep, and our passion is to innovate and deliver a world-class adventure. At the end of the day, we just love to ride our bikes, and it shows.
