Glacier Adventure
Glacier Adventure is a family-run company based at Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajökull. All of its tours take place on and beneath the glacier, as well as in the surrounding mountains.
Glacier Adventure has its own cozy base camp, located just 12 km east of the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, one of Iceland’s most popular attractions. The meeting point is at Hali, where guests will find a welcoming, family-friendly barn, hotel, guesthouse, restaurant, and a museum dedicated to the famous Icelandic writer Þórbergur Þórðarson (1888–1974), who was born in Hali. Next door to the base camp is their own guesthouse, Skyrhúsið, offering comfortable and affordable accommodation for travellers.
The company’s goal is to share its deep love and knowledge of the region with its guests and to safely introduce them to some of Iceland’s most breathtaking natural wonders. Glacier Adventure offers glacier and mountain tours year-round, in both summer and winter.
During the summer season, guests can join glacier hikes on Breiðamerkurjökull, one of Vatnajökull’s fastest-receding outlet glaciers. Tours range from scenic glacier walks to more adventurous ice-climbing experiences.
In winter, from October to April, Glacier Adventure offers ice cave tours. Guests can choose between a shorter, easy ice cave tour or a combined glacier hike and ice cave experience. As the glacier is constantly changing, new ice caves are discovered and explored every year.
