With its varied selection of different productions, The National Theatre endeavours to stimulate interest in theatre and the dramatic arts while encouraging Icelandic playwrights in their writing and supporting the development of other dramatic creations.

As a professional theatre, The Freezer produces new shows, performed in english and created by local artists. All of the shows in this fish factory style theatre have received rave reviews and the Freezer has an excellent reputation for creating highly ambitious and entertaining shows of high quality and standard.

The Freezer is also a "social hostel" where guests can stay in shared rooms, private rooms or apartments. In addition to that, the Freezer has a concert venue and a bar.

Reykjavik Theater Company is the oldest theater company that has worked continuously in Iceland and is also one of the oldest operating cultural companies in the country.

Since the opening of the City Theater, the Reykjavík Theater Company has been involved in ambitious work. 

The Theater Bar offers happy hour between 18-19 and also every evening when there are shows and performances.

Gaflaraleikhúsið is a group of professionals who have run a small theater at Víkingastræti in Hafnarfjordur since 2011.

The future goal of the theater is to build a powerful professional theater in Iceland that emphasizes good and quality performances for young audiences and tunes in between great performances for adults.

Akureyri Culture Company (ACC) represents three cultural institutions; Akureyri Theatre Company (Leikfélag Akureyrar), the North Iceland Symphonic Orchestra (Sinfóníuhljómsveit Norðurlands) and the Hof Cultural Center (Menningarhúsið Hof). The aim is to create a strong scene for the three largest cultural institutions in North Iceland to cooperate, to further advance Akureyri´s cultural society and further strengthening the operations carried out by these parties. All their work builds up to promoting and strengthening the operation, establish artistic independence, smaller superstructure and a more economical operation.
