Óskar is born and raised in the realm of Vatnajökull Glacier and being passionate for the outdoors, he enjoys mountaineering, climbing and glacier hiking. Twelve man-made caves have been discovered on the land of Ægissíða by Hella on the South Coast of Iceland. Four of them have been open to the public. South East ehf is a small family business  located in the town of Höfn on the southeast coast of Iceland.

Our names are Anna María and Siggi and we have two children who are not so much children any more, we run this business and our aim is to make your visit to our beautiful area as magnificent as we can. We have lived here almost all our lives and know the area and its hidden gems.

Siggi is the driver and guide, he has volunteered for many years in our local rescue unit, he is a captain of the rescue ship in Höfn, He worked as a fisherman for about 23 years mostly as a captain, but for the last years he has been a harbor pilot and the director of the port of Hornafjörður.

Dynjandi Guesthouse is surrounded by some of the most spectacular countryside that Iceland has to offer and is particularly attractive for outdoor activities. The farm house is located across the peninsula of Höfn, the massive glaciers of the South East are just a couple of minutes drive away as well as Stokksnes and Vestrahorn, and the nearby Lónsöræfi invites to long hikes.

Dynjandi Guesthouse is located on a horse farm, just about 5mins drive from the village of Höfn, which is the lobster capital of Iceland, and offers a large variety of restaurants and cafés. Background:

Together two crazy Americans decided to start Ice Pic Journeys as a passion project. Through their previous experience guiding with Icelandic companies, Mike and Ryan knew that they wanted people from all over the world to understand the glaciers and how they are changing.  

What better way to understand them than to create a personal experience combined with the visual elements of photography. This way, when you hike with us on any Iceland adventure tour, you will learn about the Icelandic glaciers firsthand. The cave itself is an 8000 year old lava tube created by volcanic eruption from a nearby crater in the Purkhólar crater family. As the lava rushed down the hill in a lava river it began to cool on the surface, creating a crust on top of the lava river. As the eruption stopped, all the lava from underneath this crust continued to drain out. That eventually left behind empty tube with roof on top that gradually cooled down. We offer 45 minute guided tours to Vatnshellir Cave.

The dormant Þríhnúkagígur volcano is a unique natural phenomenon. By setting up the necessary gear and equipment, we’ve created a tour that opens the door to a new world.

To be able to experience this wonder, all you need is the willingness to do a moderate 45–50 minute hike (to get to the crater) and the guts to descend 120 meters/400 feet to the bottom of the crater in an open cable lift. The hike to the volcano is an integral part of the tour, not only because of the breathtaking scenery, but also because it’s one of only two ways of getting to the base of the volcano. The other option is to use a helicopter.
