Glacier and Volcano expeditions

Jökla og Eldfjallaferðir/Glacier and Volcano Expeditions is a micro-tourism company run by locals in Öræfi. The owners of the company emphasize offering their guests a safe, positive and memorable experience in an environmentally friendly manner and harmony with nature.

A Packraft trip to Fjallsárlón is ideal for those who want to come and experience the glacier and icebergs in a spectacular glacial landscape at the foot of Öræfajökull. This trip is an opportunity for nature lovers to float between icebergs and learn about the history of the area along the way, hear the roar of the glacier and experience the complex environment of Fjallsjökull in peace and quiet away from the crowds. 

The Packraft boats are particularly stable and comfortable boats and therefore user-friendly for beginners. Participants receive dry suits and life jackets and anyone who wants is free to bring their phones or cameras.

The trips are available during the summer months and are all led by the owners of Jökla og Eldfjallaferðir.
