The town of Patreksfjörður has a good selection of restaurants and coffee houses plus retail stores and other services.  The sports center also has a swimming pool that has one of the best views in the country. The magnificent nature in the area offers many possibilities both on your own and also in planned excursions. A touirst informatione center is also in the area.

Close by is the famous beach Rauðisandur where you can find some seals, the largest bird cliff in Europe Látrabjarg, the famous valley Selárdalur and one of the more beautiful waterfalls in Iceland Dynjandi.
