Fossárdalur

In Fossárdalur sleeping bag accommodation with cooking facilities is at hand, as well as a camping site. The guests stay in a separate house, situated at a distance of 600 m. from the farmhouses in Fossárdalur (Cataract River Valley). There are six rooms in the house: four suitable for four persons, one triple room and one double room. There are doubled beds in three of the rooms.

No food or beverages are provided at Fossárdalur. Restaurants and coffee shops can be reached at the village Djúpivogur, which is about fifteen minutes drive away.

The landscape is quite extraordinary. Rocks are abundant and hiking possibilities range from easy to quite demanding. The river Fossá, which runs through the valley, is adorned with some twenty-five waterfalls, each with its particular charm, meriting a closer inspection. A four-wheel track running close to the river and the waterfalls leads further into the valley.

The campsite is in a sheltered area surrounded by mountains.  It is spacious and possible to accommodate large groups.  It is possible to accommodate both a large number of small tents as well as large mobile homes.  A small creek is by the campsite that the children love to play around in.  The campsite is ideal for those who want peace and quiet in beautiful nature.  The area has diverse walking paths and beautiful waterfalls in the river Fossá.

Toilet facilities are in the service house as well as hot and cold water.  It is also possible to connect to electricity although the number of connections is limited.
