Laugavalladalur

Laugavalladalur is a lush green oasis west of the Jökulsá á Dal, about 20 km north of the Kárahnjúkar Dam.

Near the ruins of an old farm you will find a small geothermal stream that flows into the valley’s main river. Here, a unique natural “shower” forms where the warm water cascades over a cliff, creating a perfect spot to bathe under the waterfall.

Visitors can enjoy a refreshing soak in this natural hot stream while surrounded by the peaceful highland landscape. However, be careful to test the water before entering, as the temperature can sometimes rise well above comfortable bathing levels.
