Fljótsdalur HI Hostel

With over 50 years history as a hostel, this former farmhouse overlooks the famous Eyjafjallajökull glacier. Lovingly renovated, Fljótsdalur provides the perfect haven to unwind in the quiet countryside while also being a short drive from popular sights like Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss. The house can be considered simple by modern times- the shower is in the garden and there is no wifi. However it is impossible to get bored, with a variety of walks in the area and a collection of over 2000 books on Iceland, mostly in English.

In the area:

• Fljótsdalur is just across the river from Þórsmörk, famous for it´s diverse landscape and hikes. It is also situated right at the end of the Laugavegur trail, making it the ideal place to relax after a long hike.
• In-between Selfoss and Vik, it makes for a great evening stop.
• Popular sights such as Skogafoss, Eyjafjallajökull and Seljavallalaug are just around the corner.
